An adverbial is a construction that modifies, or describes, verbs. When an adverbial modifies a verb, it changes the meaning of that verb.

Pre- and post-modifiers modify a central noun in a noun phrase.

A head noun is the word that is modified by an adjective clause. For example, in the sentence I like the bicycle that you bought, bicycle is the head noun because the adjective clause modifies it.

A verbal group is a group of words that functions as a verb by acting as the head of a verb phrase.

Good luck to you!
