How Can I Do Proofreading and Editing Marks in Microsoft Word 2007?

I am currently taking an online class, called Proofreading and Editing.
One of the assignments is to turn in 3 letters, typed on word, that are edited with the marks included.
I cannot figure out if there is a pencil or something I can use to insert the marks. The teacher is no help at all.
