I am in the process of proofing a 250-page document in pdf format. Just in the beginning, I have already noticed several instances where a sentence ends, but there is no space after the period and the capital letter of the next sentence. Is there a way to perform a generic search to find these missing spaces?

Convert it to a .txt file, open it with notepad, copy and then copy and paste it to Microsoft Word or another good word editor to find and replace these errors. To convert the PDF to a txt document, i suggest you use
http://www.freepdfconvert.com/
Simply select the file, click convert, and wait until the download link appears, note that you don’t need to enter your email address.
I don’t think, its possible. try google search.
